Hi, We Are So Happy To Meet You!
Dr. Ashley Casida
Ashley grew up in southern California, went to Cal Poly Pomona for her undergraduate degree, and worked as a veterinary technician for 6 years prior to veterinary school. After graduating from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2015, she continued her training to become a certified canine physical rehabilitation therapist. She recently moved to Arizona and is enjoying all the opportunities to explore the outdoors, including hiking and spending time at the lake. She spends her free time with her three dogs, Tucker, Whiskey, and Frankie, and loves having game nights with family and friends.
Dr. Hugh Giffords
Hugh is a graduate of Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to his veterinary career, Dr Giffords served as a police officer with the NYPD and as a firefighter with the FDNY. He is motivated by compassion for those who can’t speak for themselves and is passionate in his belief that our four-legged friends receive the finest medical care possible. He has additional training in Small Animal Medicine from Kansas State University. Jack the Akita is his constant companion.
Dr. Jessica Peterson
I am from the beautiful west Texas borderland city of El Paso. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Animal Science with Equine Emphasis from New Mexico State University, in Las Cruces, NM. Starting at the age of 15, straight through until I was admitted into vet school, I worked a variety of jobs: doggie daycare attendant, dog kennel supervisor, vet tech, barn hand, horse trainer. I attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine to earn my DVM degree, and attended Texas A&M for my clinical year. My fiance, Kevin, and I met during vet school. We moved to Phoenix after graduation to pursue our careers in medicine and surgery. We currently have three "kids", who we adore: two dogs, Scout & Kerrigan, and one cat, Foxy.
Outside of the hospital, I enjoy off-road adventures, motorcycling, playing video games, and watching 'King of the Hill' episodes on repeat. I believe that the bond between you and your pets is something to be cherished, and I would be honored to care for your loved ones. I look forward to seeing you and your pets at your next visit!
Dr. Shanah Frankel
A born and raised native of Las Vegas, NV, Dr. Frankel decided to give “seasons” a try at The Ohio State University. Throughout her time in Ohio, she explored the wide world of animal care working for the Columbus Zoo, the USDA, a companion animal hospital and running tOSU Horsemen’s Association. After earning both her bachelor’s and veterinary medicine degrees from tOSU, she decided winters just weren’t for her, and returned back west for some very missed sunshine and family. Her professional passions include feline medicine, anesthesia & pain management, dentistry and reproductive medicine. Outside of the office, her favorite hobby is cooking (and therefore second favorite hobby is eating), spending time with family and the great outdoors.
Dr. Jennifer DePew
Jennifer was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. She attended Arizona State University prior to attending Midwestern University’s Veterinary Medicine program, where she graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to attending veterinary school, Jennifer worked as a veterinary technician at Sun Valley Hope Animal Hospital and was lucky to be a part of an amazing team of individuals who have limitless care and compassion for people and their pets. In her free time Jennifer enjoys rest and relaxation, and spending time with her dog and cat, Hilde and Luna, and her family. What drew her to veterinary medicine was a love of animals and a desire to help and heal them, but each day she is driven and inspired by the love and compassion that pet owners show for animals.
Brandi has been working with animals her whole life. At age 18 she became a kennel technician, then became a groomer. After 12 years she decided she wanted to do more to help animals so she became a veterinary technician. She shares her home with 2 dogs and a cat, as well as her amazing husband and daughter.
Shannon has lived in Arizona for most of her life. In 2011, she graduated from Carrington College for Veterinary Assisting. She plans on returning to school to become a CVT. She has worked at Sun Valley Hope since March of 2015 as a Veterinary Assistant. She has one son and a little old dachshund named Rosie. She adores working with animals. Everything from first vaccines and well checks, to nursing sick pets back to health. She can’t imagine herself doing anything else.
Trevor is a receptionist at Sun Valley Hope Animal Hospital. He has been at Sun Valley Hope since 2014 and has been a valued member ever since. In his free time he studies history, love football, video games and hanging out with his best friend, Triton. Triton is a 5-year old Basenji Mix. Trevor has always had a passion for animals and loves being part of Sun Valley Hope. Go Seahawks!
